Getting started with Goldie payments


Goldie Pro and Pro Plus subscribers can set up payment processing accounts that let them easily accept deposits, payments, and tips from their clients. This guide will show you how to set up your payment account with Goldie and how to begin collecting payments to build your business.


Depending on where your business is located (US/UK/Canada vs. any other nation), you may have a slightly different interface. This guide will note when experiences may differ by geography.


Goldie Pro and Team subscribers can set up payment processing accounts to accept deposits, payments, and tips from clients. Here's a brief overview:


1. Creating Your Goldie Payments Account

   - Go to Menu (☰) > Payments.

   - Tap "Set up payment processing" and provide the required information.

   - Submit the details.

   - Verify your Stripe account by uploading the necessary documents.


2. Set Your Deposit Amount

   - After setting up your payments account, you can require a deposit when clients book appointments.

   - Go to Menu (☰) > Settings > Payments > Deposit to adjust the deposit policy.

   - Options include a fixed amount, a percentage, or no deposit.


3. Establishing Your Terms and Conditions

   - Define your business's terms and conditions for clients.

   - Go to Menu (☰) > Settings > Payments > Policy and terms.

   - Enter your terms, which will be displayed to customers during the booking process.


4. Set your Tax Withholding Policy

    - Go to Menu (☰) > Settings > Payments > Taxes


This percentage is applied to the entire appointment amount before tips or processing fees, enhancing transparency and flexibility. Tax = Service total * Tax%
Example: Service total is $100, and the tax rate is 10% (or 0.10 in decimal form), then Tax = $10


5. Collecting Payments


Goldie allows you to take three types of payments: deposits, remaining balances, and tips. Once you’ve set up payments, it’s easy to take all three.


Deposits: To set up your Goldie accounts so that customers must pay a deposit when they book an appointment, check out our article on setting a deposit amount.


Remaining balances and Tips: To take payment for any remaining balance (and a potential tip) for an appointment, follow these steps in Goldie. Select the appointment for which you want to collect payment. Tap “Take Payment” next to the remaining balance shown beneath the Service Total. 


Select the method you’d like to use to collect payment: Payment link | Cash | Tap to pay (available in US, GB, CA, AU, NZ, SG, DE) | Card on file | Terminal reader.


6. Transferring Money to Your Bank Account

   - Connect your bank account to receive earnings.

   - Funds are deposited daily in the US, UK, and Canada.

   - For other nations, schedule transfers via Stripe.


7. Issuing Client Refunds

   - You can easily issue refunds to clients.

   - Tap the appointment, select "Refund," and choose the refund method (card or cash).

   - Refunds to cards may take 5-10 business days to process.
