Two-Way Texting Overview

Learn how to text clients and read their replies in Goldie Chats, including notifications, failed messages, and team access.

Requirements:

Plan: Pro or Pro Plus

With Two-Way Texting, you can text your clients and read their replies directly in Goldie. Each client has their own chat with the automated messages Goldie sent, the client's replies, and the replies you or your team sent, all in one place.

Countries with reply capabilities:

  • United States (US)

  • Puerto Rico (PR)

  • Canada (CA)

  • United Kingdom (GB)

  • U.S. Virgin Islands (VI)

  • Australia (AU)

  • Ireland (IE)

  • South Africa (ZA)

  • Netherlands (NL)

Where to Find Your Chats

All your client conversations are in Chats. To open it, tap the chat icon at the top of your calendar. A red badge on the icon shows how many unread messages you have.

To open your chats in Goldie, tap the chat icon on the calendar or go to Chats.

In Chats, your most recent conversations appear at the top. Chats with unread messages are shown in bold, with the number of new messages next to them. Use the Search client bar to find a specific conversation, or to start a new chat with a client you haven't texted yet.

From the Client Profile

You can also open a client's chat from their profile. Go to Menu (☰) → Clients, select the client, and tap Chat.

Inside a Chat

Each chat shows the full conversation with the client:

  • Automated messages sent by Goldie, such as reminders, appear with the Goldie icon.

  • Client replies appear in yellow and show the client's photo or initials.

  • Your replies appear with the photo or initials of the person who sent them.

  • Messages you send with Send message from an appointment also appear in the chat.

Each message shows the date and time it was sent. If a message is linked to an appointment, the appointment date is underlined. Tap it to open the appointment details. If the appointment was deleted, you'll see a message that it no longer exists.

To reply, type in the Text message field at the bottom and tap the send arrow. To call the client instead, tap the phone icon at the top of the chat.

Reply Notifications

When a client replies, you'll get a push notification on your phone showing who sent the message and what it says. Tap it to open that client's chat at the latest message.

Replies also appear on the Notifications screen, so you can get back to a conversation later.

Push notifications are available in the Goldie mobile app only. They are not available in the Web App.

What You'll See If Two-Way Texting Isn't Active

If you're on the Starter plan, you'll see a short introduction to Two-Way Texting with an option to upgrade to Pro.

If you're on Pro or Pro Plus but use the Manual sending method, Chats shows a Change sending method button. Tap it to switch to Automatic sending. You can also change it anytime from Menu (☰) → Settings → Messages → Sending method.

If your business is in a country that doesn't support replies, Two-Way Texting isn't available, and client chats won't appear in Goldie.

Two-Way Texting for Teams

On Pro Plus, everyone on your team can open client chats. Each reply shows the photo or initials of the team member who sent it, so everyone can see who has already answered the client.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this use more messages from my monthly quota?

No. It actually uses fewer. Client replies appear directly in Goldie instead of being forwarded to your phone number, so you don't need an extra message to receive them. Replies you send from a chat count toward your quota, like any other message.

How long is the chat history kept?

Goldie keeps chat history for one year. If you switch from Automatic to Manual sending and back again, you'll still see your messages from the past year.

Can Goldie reply to clients for me?

Yes, with AI Receptionist. When it's active, it can answer client messages in your chats, and it marks its replies so you can tell them apart from yours.
