Understanding the Sending Method: Automatic vs Manual Reminders

Learn the difference between Automatic and Manual sending methods in Goldie and how each one affects whether your clients receive appointment reminders.

The Sending Method setting controls how Goldie sends appointment reminders to your clients — and choosing the wrong one is the most common reason reminders don't go out. Here's what each option means and how to set it correctly.

What Is the Sending Method?

Every reminder in Goldie is delivered through a Sending Device, the phone or tablet that has Goldie installed and is responsible for sending messages to your clients. The Sending Method determines whether that device sends reminders automatically in the background, or only when you manually trigger them.

There are two options:

Automatic — Goldie sends reminders on its own at the times you've scheduled. This is the recommended setting for most users.

Manual — Goldie does not send reminders on its own. Instead, you'll receive a push notification prompting you to review and send each reminder yourself. If you miss the notification or dismiss it, the reminder will not be sent.

How to Check and Change Your Sending Method

To check your Sending Method in Goldie, go to Menu (☰) → Settings → Message → Sending Method.

You'll see either Automatic or Manual selected. Tap the option you want to apply and save your changes.

Which Setting Should I Use?

If your clients are not receiving reminders and you haven't changed anything recently, the first thing to check is whether your Sending Method is set to Automatic. If it's set to Manual, Goldie is waiting for you to approve and send each message — which means reminders will only go out when you act on the notification.

Use Automatic if you want reminders to go out without any action on your part. This is the most reliable way to ensure clients receive their messages on time.

Use Manual only if you prefer to review every message before it's sent — for example, if you customize each reminder individually.
