The S700 smart terminal is a Wi-Fi card reader with a built-in touchscreen. You can use it on your reception counter or pick it up and bring it to the client, who taps, inserts, or swipes their card and chooses a tip right on the device.
What is the S700 smart terminal?
The S700 connects over Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth. After the first pairing, it reconnects to your Goldie account automatically each time you open the app, and it shows a Goldie splash screen when it's idle.
Key features:
Wi-Fi connectivity — no Bluetooth pairing every morning. After the first setup, the S700 reconnects to your Goldie account as soon as you open the app.
Counter or handheld use — keep it on your reception counter or pick it up and bring it to the client.
Built-in touchscreen — your client selects their tip and confirms payment directly on the reader, not on your phone.
Goldie splash screen — when the reader is idle, it displays Goldie branding.
Country availability: The S700 is available to Goldie Payments users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
Buying the S700
To buy the S700, go to Menu (☰) → Settings → Payments → Card readers.
You can buy the S700 directly from the Goldie app. Each country sees the readers available in their market — the S700 appears alongside the M2 (US) or the WisePad 3 (UK, CA, AU), depending on where you're based.
Tap Buy on the S700 smart terminal to open the purchase flow. If more than one model is available, you'll first see a Choose a Goldie card reader model page. After that, tap Continue to go to its purchase page.
Setting up your S700
Once your S700 arrives, you'll see it on the Card readers screen with a Set up terminal button. The Quick setup wizard walks you through pairing in just a few steps.
You can start the setup from the Checkout flow from appointment or by going to Menu (☰) → Settings → Payments → Card readers and tap Set up terminal.
Step 1 — Power up your reader
Turn on the S700 and follow the instructions shown on the reader.
Step 2 — Connect to the same Wi-Fi network
Make sure your S700 and the phone or tablet running Goldie are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This is the most important step — the reader can't be discovered if it's on a different network.
Step 3 — Enter the pairing code
Tap Continue on the Quick setup screen to open the Enter code screen. You'll find a code on your S700's screen — type it into Goldie and tap Continue again. If you can't find the code, see Finding or regenerating your pairing code below.
Step 4 — Connecting
Goldie pairs your phone or tablet with the S700. This can take a few minutes — keep both devices powered on and on the same network. When pairing succeeds, you'll see Your card reader is connected. Tap Got it to return to the Card readers screen, where your S700 now shows as Connected, and the reader displays the Goldie splash screen.
Finding or regenerating your pairing code
During setup, the S700 shows a pairing code on its own screen — that's the code you type into Goldie. If you don't see a code or you need a new one to re-pair the reader, you can generate one from the reader's settings.
To generate a new pairing code on the S700: swipe right from the left edge of the reader's screen → tap Settings → enter the admin passcode 0-7-1-3-9 → tap Generate pairing code → type the displayed code into Goldie.
About the admin PIN (07139):
You'll need this PIN when setting up your S700 for the first time, changing its Wi-Fi network, or generating a new pairing code to re-pair the reader. You won't need it for taking payments.
Taking a payment with the S700
Once your S700 is connected, the payment flow moves between your device and the reader.
From an appointment, tap Checkout and choose the Goldie card reader as the payment method. The appointment total appears on the S700; your client takes it from there.
💡 Your clients pick their tip on the S700 touchscreen (15%, 20%, 25%, No tip, or a custom amount), then tap, insert, or swipe their card. If they want a receipt, they can enter their email on the reader.
When the payment succeeds, the S700 returns to its Goldie splash screen, and your device moves to the Schedule next appointment screen. If the payment fails, both your device and the reader show the error — you can retry from your device.
💡 Fees on tips: when your payment settings make the client the fee payer, the transaction fee applies only to the service total. Goldie doesn't charge a transaction fee on the tip.
No reader connected yet? If you choose the Goldie card reader at checkout and no reader is paired, you'll see a Choose a card reader bottom sheet listing every reader available in your country (most recently purchased first).
Managing your card readers
‼️ You can register multiple card readers on your account, but only one can be connected at a time.
Switching readers — On the Card readers screen, tap Connect on the reader you want to switch to. A Confirm action pop-up will ask whether you want to disconnect the current reader and connect to the new one. Tap Confirm to switch.
Disconnecting — On the connected reader's card, tap Disconnect. The reader stays registered on your account and can be reconnected at any time.
Buy another reader — Tap + Buy another card reader above the cards to add more to your account.
Troubleshooting
Most S700 issues come down to network or software. Here are the most common messages and what to do:
"Your S700 isn't on the same Wi-Fi as your phone." Connect both your phone or tablet and the S700 to the same Wi-Fi network, then try again. Goldie can't find the reader if they're on different networks.
"Your S700 needs an update." Leave the reader plugged in and on Wi-Fi for a few minutes, then try again. Updates download over Wi-Fi while the reader is idle.
"Your reader is busy with another transaction." Wait a moment and try again — the reader can only handle one payment at a time.
"Your reader lost its security keys after restarting." The S700 needs to be re-paired. Go to Menu (☰) → Settings → Payments → Card readers and start setup again.
"Location services are off." Goldie needs your location to process card payments. Turn on location services for Goldie in your device settings, then try again.
"No reader connected." Pair a reader before taking payment. Open the Card readers screen and connect your S700 from there.
