Until now, clients could only save a card on file at checkout, through a deposit link, or from their own client account. You can now save a card for a client yourself, right from the Goldie app, which is far easier when they're standing in front of you.
For what a card on file is, how you can charge it, and the limits that apply, see Available Payment method: Card on File (Feature Overview).
Requirements:
Goldie app version: 62.2.0
Subscription: Pro or Pro Plus
Payments set up on your Goldie account, and permission to take payments.
The client must have an email address saved on their profile.
The Cards on file screen
Every card a client has saved with you now lives in one place. Open the client's profile, and you'll find a Cards on file section under Sub-clients.
Cards are listed newest to oldest. The first card in the list is labeled Primary card.
An email address is required because Goldie emails the client a confirmation of the card they've authorized. If the client's profile doesn't have one, you'll see a pop-up explaining that you need an email address to save a card on file.
To add a card on file, tap the [ + ] button. Fill in the required fields, then tap Save.
Removing a card
Each card has a trash icon next to it. Tapping it asks you to confirm with Remove card?, naming the card brand and last four digits, and warning that you won't be able to charge it and that it will no longer appear in that client's account. Choose Cancel or Remove.
Removing a card removes it from the Payment methods screen, Cards on file, and the client's account with your business.
What you and your client are told
Saving a card triggers two messages, so nobody is left guessing.
You get a notification
Once the card is safely saved, you receive a push notification reading "{Client}'s card on file was saved." Tapping it opens that client's profile at their Cards on file. You'll only get this for cards saved by you or your team, not for cards clients save themselves.
Your client gets an email
Your client receives a confirmation email with the subject: Your card was saved with {business name}.
The email also tells them they can remove the card from their Goldie client account at any time under Payments → {business name}. See Getting Started with Client Account Management.
If you later remove the card, they're emailed again — {business name} removed your saved card — confirming it can no longer be used with your business.
A card you save from the app appears in your client's account exactly like one they saved themselves, and they can remove it whenever they choose. Always ask your client before saving their card.
