Goldie Payment Feature: Gift Cards

Gift cards allow your loyal clients to become brand ambassadors by gifting your services to friends and family. With Goldie gift cards, you'll secure revenue in advance, transform existing clients into promoters of your business, and have the flexibility to sell gift cards both online and in person.

1. Setting Up Gift Cards | Who Can Access Gift Cards?

Gift cards are available exclusively for Pro and Pro Plus accounts. If you're currently on a Starter plan, you'll need to upgrade to access this feature.

Activating Gift Cards
To start using gift cards, go to the "Gift Cards" section in the left menu of your Goldie dashboard, where you'll see a "New" label for easy visibility. Once there, you'll find an overview of the key benefits. Before using gift cards, you must first enable the Payments option if you haven’t already. You'll be prompted to activate it before proceeding. To set up gift cards, tap the settings icon on the Gift Cards screen or follow the setup process. In the settings, you can choose whether to allow online gift card purchases through your booking website and whether to allow clients to enter custom gift card amounts.

You can configure up to 10 different gift card preset values. The system has default values of $50, $100, $150, $250, and $500, but you can adjust these to better suit your services and clientele.

*Note: Keep in mind that the minimum value allowed is $50, and the maximum is $500.

2. Selling Gift Cards | In-Person Sales

Selling gift cards in person through your Goldie app is simple and integrates seamlessly with your workflow. Here's how to do it:

  1. Navigate to the Gift Cards Section: Open your Goldie app and go to the Gift Cards section.
  2. Select the Gift Card Value: Choose from preset values or enter a custom amount if that option is enabled.
  3. Add to Cart: Tap to add the selected gift card to the cart.
  4. Select a Client: Choose the client for the purchase to ensure proper record-keeping and confirmation emails.
  5. Process the Payment: Complete the transaction using any available payment method, such as card readers, tap to pay, or payment links.
  6. Send Confirmation: After the payment is processed, the client will receive an email with instructions on customizing and sending their gift card to the recipient.

Online Sales

You can also allow customers to purchase gift cards from your online booking. Gift cards are displayed above your services section for easy visibility. Clients can choose a preset value or enter a custom amount, personalize the gift card with designs, and provide recipient information, or use it themselves. Payment is securely processed through your existing system, and confirmation emails are sent automatically, ensuring a smooth, professional experience with minimal effort on your part.

3. Customer's Experience | For Gift Card Buyers

When a client buys a gift card, they receive an instant email confirmation with the gift card value, a unique code, and the next steps. The email includes a link to customize the gift card, allowing them to choose a design, add a personal message, and enter the recipient's details. If they bought the card for themselves, they can redeem it directly to their account.

Gift card recipients also get a well-designed email with the gift card details, the sender's message, and a "Redeem Now" button. Clicking the button guides them through adding the gift card to their account, making it ready for use when booking services.

4. Redeeming Gift Cards

The gift card redemption process starts when recipients click the "Redeem Now" link in their email. If they’re logged in and their email matches the one associated with the gift card, it’s automatically linked to their account. If the emails don't match, they’re prompted to confirm whether they want to associate the gift card with their current account. For those without an account, the process helps them create one using the purchaser's information, and the gift card is automatically added.

After redemption, clients can manage their gift cards through their accounts. They can view their balance, track transactions, and see a history of appointments and services. When booking new services, they can apply the gift card balance at checkout, making the process smooth and easy.

5. Using Gift Cards for Payment | For Clients

When booking appointments, clients with an active gift card can select "Use gift card" as a payment option and choose to apply the full or partial balance. If the gift card doesn’t cover the full cost, they can pay the rest using another payment method. The system updates the gift card balance in real time, providing clients with accurate, up-to-date information.

For Business Owners

The system automatically displays gift cards as a payment option for clients with available balances. If the gift card doesn’t cover the full amount, you’ll be prompted to collect the remaining balance with another payment method. All gift card transactions are recorded in your financial reports for easy accounting and clear insight into how gift cards affect your revenue.

6. Refunds | Gift Card Purchase Refunds

If a client requests a refund for an unused gift card, you can refund the full amount to the original payment method. However, once the gift card is redeemed, refunds are not available to the original buyer to avoid complications for both your business and the recipient.

Service Refunds

For services paid with a gift card, refunds are added back to the client's gift card balance instead of a credit card or external payment method. This balance is immediately available for future appointments, and the refund is recorded in the gift card history for transparency. This keeps the refund within your business and encourages clients to return for future services.
