Available Payment method: Card on File (Feature Overview)

What is the "Card on File" Feature?

The "Card on File" feature allows customers to securely save their card information during the first payment, typically a deposit. By choosing to save their card on file, customers give permission to charge the second payment directly from their bank account.

Saving Cards on File:

Customers can opt to save their cards during the payment process, specifically when finalizing a booking and making a deposit. At the last step of the payment process, a "Card on File" option appears after the policy and terms section. By checking the corresponding checkbox above the "Pay now and book" button, customers authorize the app to save their card details for future transactions.

Additionally, customers can save their cards on file when receiving a Deposit Payment Link sent by the merchant through the Goldie app.

Checking for a Card on File:

To check if a card is on file, navigate to the appointment details in your Goldie calendar. If a card has been saved by the customer, a new entry labeled "Card on file available" will be visible. Tapping on "Take Payment" within the appointment details provides the option to utilize the card on file for the transaction.

If the card on file was saved by the customer, when you tap on "Take Payment" from the Appointment details, you will be able to select "Card on file" and charge your customer.

Client account:

A new "Payments" section is now available in the left-hand menu of the Goldie app.

To add a card, tap on the Payments tab and tap on the "Add card on file" button. You will be prompted to add the card details, expiration date and CVC code. Once a card is saved, it appears on the service provider's screen with the following details:

  • Card Number: Displayed with only the last four digits visible.
  • Expiration Date: As entered by the user.
  • Card Issuer Logo: e.g., Visa, Mastercard.

Your customers can add multiple cards. The newest card saved becomes the default payment card.

Additional Information

  • Multiple Cards:
You can save the same card for different service providers or use different cards for each. Authorization is needed for each provider, done during the first transaction.

  • Client Account Required for Card Management:
Clients must log in or create an account to manage their saved cards. Without an account, card management is not possible.

  • Card Activation Timing:
When processing a payment, if a new card is added, the system will first attempt to charge the original card. If it fails, the new or any other saved card will be charged.

  • Saved Card Charges:
Service providers can charge a saved card for appointments.

  • Provider-Created Appointments:
Service providers can use a saved card to charge remaining balances on appointments.

What are the limitations?

It's important to note that the "Card on File" feature has certain limitations to ensure secure and responsible usage. The card on file is accessible to the merchant only 24 hours before and after the appointment's start time. Furthermore, it can only be used to charge customers for the remaining balance. Also the charge cannot exceed more than 25% of the remaining amount. These limitations are in place to safeguard both merchants and customers, ensuring a reliable and secure payment process.

We are excited about the possibilities this new feature brings to enhance your Goldie experience. As always, your feedback is valuable to us as we continue to refine and improve our services. Thank you for choosing Goldie for your booking and payment needs!
