Goldie Payments must be active
Goldie's Split Payment option lets you collect a single appointment payment using two different methods or cards in one checkout, for example, part on a card on file and the rest in cash.
What is a Split Payment?
When you take payment for an appointment, Split Payment lets you divide the total into two separate payments and charge each one with its own method. Goldie walks you through both payments in a single flow, so you can collect the full amount in one checkout.
When Split Payment is available
Split Payment appears as a payment method during checkout when the amount due is at least twice your minimum transaction limit. It works for appointments, for both a full payment and a remaining amount due, but it is not available for deposits, gift card purchases, or product-only sales.
Split Payment is hidden when the Gift card method is available, since a gift card already lets you cover part of the total and pay the rest with another method. It is also not offered alongside Send payment link, because Split Payment is designed for a fast, in-person checkout.
How to take a Split Payment
To take a Split Payment in Goldie, open the appointment from your Calendar → tap Checkout → select Split payment → tap Continue.
On the Payment methods screen, Split payment is labeled Pay with two different methods or cards. Selecting it and tapping Continue opens the Payment 1 of 2 screen.
Payment 1 of 2
Set the amount for the first payment. Goldie prefills half of the total, and you can edit it. The screen shows how much will remain for the second payment. Choose the method for this payment (Card on file, Tap to Pay, Card reader, Cash, or Paid outside Goldie), tap Continue, choose a tip, and send the receipt.
Note: the tip is applied to that payment's amount, not to the full appointment total.
Payment 2 of 2
Goldie then opens Payment 2 of 2 for the remaining balance. This amount is fixed and cannot be edited. Choose a method, tap Continue, choose a tip, and send the receipt. Once both payments are complete, you can rebook the appointment.
Amounts and payment method limits
Each card payment must fall between your minimum and maximum card transaction limits. If the amount you set is below the minimum transaction limit, only Cash and Paid outside Goldie are available for that payment. If an amount is outside the card limits and a card method is selected, Goldie shows a message asking you to edit the amount or choose Cash to continue.
If the second payment isn't completed
If you close the Payment 2 of 2 screen before finishing, Goldie lets you know the remaining amount is still unpaid and asks whether to Collect later or Collect now. Collect later returns you to the appointment details, so you can take the rest whenever the client is ready.
