Why does Goldie ask me to update the app?

Learn what the "Quick update needed" message and the "App update is required!" banner mean in the Goldie mobile app, and how to update.

Occasionally, your version of the Goldie app becomes too old to work with Goldie's servers. When that happens, the app asks you to update so your calendar keeps syncing.

Why You Are Asked To Update

An update may be required when Goldie releases an important change or when someone in your business starts using a feature that needs a newer app version. In that case, every phone in the business running an older version is prompted to update, including your team members' phones.

Until you update, the app on that phone can stop sending and receiving changes. Appointments booked online, by clients, or from another device may not show up on that phone, so update as soon as you can.

The Quick Update Needed Message

When an update is required, you will see a pop-up titled Quick update needed, either when you log in or while you are using the app. It reads: "A new version of Goldie is ready. Update the app to keep things running smoothly. Thanks!"

You have two options:

  • Update now starts the update. On phones that support it, the update happens in-app. On other phones, the App Store or Google Play opens on the Goldie page.

  • Cancel closes the popup for now. The popup reappears each time Goldie tells the app it needs an update.

The App Update Is Required Banner

If you tap Cancel, a banner saying App update is required! stays at the top of your calendar in Week, 3 Day, and Day view. You can't close this banner. Tap it anytime to start the update.

While this banner is showing, the Setup for success banner is hidden, so you only see one banner at a time. Once you update, the update banner disappears.

If the update doesn't start from the app, open the App Store or Google Play, search for Goldie, and tap Update.
